Important Information to Know
I am really excited to be a part of your child’s learning and growing that will take place this year. I look forward to working with you to make this a successful year for your third grader.
1. 2018 - 2019 SCHEDULE
Monday: P.E.
Tuesday: Spanish and Art
Wednesday: Spanish, Music and Buddies
Thursday: Library and Music
Friday: Spanish and P.E.
*Students must wear sneakers on P.E. days
2. SNACKS
We will have snack every day in the middle of the morning. Please send in a simple, healthy snack for your child to consume during snack-time. Fruit, pretzels, vegetables, crackers and yogurt are great choices. Due to allergies, our classroom is nut-free (nuts are allowed at lunchtime in the cafeteria). During snack time in third grade, students will sometimes have working snacks during independent working times or read aloud. At other times during snack, students will have a chance to converse with their classmates. Both times are very beneficial to your child.
3. BIRTHDAYS
Due to life threatening allergies, dietary restraints and recommendations from the Baker staff and administration, we will celebrate birthdays without food in 3MH. Instead, we will have a time during the school day on your child’s birthday set aside in their honor. If your child’s birthday takes place in the summer, we will celebrate their birthday in June. During this time, we will play a special game, have extra recess or choice time.
4. HOMEWORK
Students will have homework Monday through Thursday. At the end of each day, students will write their homework down. Over the next few months, please check your child’s binder each night and initial the day acknowledging that the work for that day has been completed. I will be sending home a worksheet to help your child set up an appropriate reading and study space. It is very important for your child to have a regular specific space set aside for homework completion where there are few distractions. Your assistance with this is greatly appreciated!
5. HOMEWORK BINDER
Every day, your child will bring home a Homework binder. On Friday, this binder will contain notices and their work from the week. All the work and notices are yours to keep. Please send the binder back to school empty on Monday.
6. OFFICE HOURS AND CONTACT INFORMATION
If at any time, questions or concerns arise, please send a note in with your child or email me at [email protected] You may also call the school at (617) 879-4500, leave a message for me and I will return your call. My office hours are Mondays 2:30 – 3:00 p.m. or by appointment.
7. DISMISSAL
In 3MH, students who ride the bus will be dismissed first, next the students who walk to BSED (Baker School Extended Day program), and finally walkers and students meeting an adult. Please click here to fill out a Dismissal Information Form. As a reminder, please send in a note with your child if there are any changes to their dismissal information. Monday through Thursday our dismissal time is 2:30. Friday, dismissal is at 1:40.
