2018 - 2019 Beginning of the Year Information
July/August 2018
Dear Third Grade Families,
Welcome to 3MH! The 2018-2019 school year will be here before you know it. Below, please find information that will help you prepare for this upcoming school year.
Please mark your calendars! Kindergarten through third grade’s Sneak Peek day is on Wednesday, September 5th from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. This is a time to come into the classroom, see other 3MH families and meet me. To get to our classroom, go down the main hallway, take a right at the gymnasium, walk across the indoor bridge and go down the stairs. Our room is the second door on the left (room #123).
In 3MH, all supplies are collected and shared with the entire class. Each table group will share a caddy of supplies, which will be refilled throughout the course of the year with the supplies that are collected at the beginning of the year. Because of this, the supply list is very specific and there is no need to label the supplies with your child’s name. Please have your child bring the supplies at the Sneak Peak on September 5th or during the first week of school. Please click here for the Supply list.
In addition, please complete the Parent Survey and Student Survey. These surveys will provide me with your contact information and information about your child.
In addition, I would like to set up a 10-minute listening conference with parents. In our 10 minutes together, I would like to hear what you have to say about the following three questions:
1. What would you like me to know about your third grader?
2. What would you like me to know about your family?
3. What are your hopes for the 2018-2019 school year?
The listening conference can take place in person in room 123, over the phone or you can record your answers using a voice app on your computer or phone and send them to me via email - whichever is most convenient for you. Please click here for more information about listening conferences and how to sign up. Your insight is extremely valuable to me!
Finally, please have your child think about a time from this summer that was memorable. If possible, keep a small memento that reminds them of this time that can be brought in and shared with the class in September. This could be a photograph, a ticket stub, a small jar of sand from the beach, etc. All that I ask is that the memento is small enough to carry and please, no living things! I will let you know at the beginning of school when it will be time to bring in the memento (your child should not bring it in on the first day of school).
Enjoy the rest of your summer! I’m really looking forward to meeting you at the Sneak Peek on September 5th or on the first day of school on September 6th! Just a reminder, Monday through Thursday the school day is 8:00 a.m.– 2:30 p.m. and on Friday it is 8:00 a.m. – 1:40 p.m.
Best Wishes,
Melissa Harris
